Conformed to the group, wearing the same uniform, same hair, same....everything...for the last 6 years.
I've done a little doodling here and there in that time span, but it has dwindled significantly. I think not being able to dress like my wierd little self, put my hair up crazy, etc, on an every day basis has sucked the creativity out of me.
One of the reasons, among many others, to join the military was to give myself a skill that could be a reliable source of income. I don't regret a minute of it, but in that time I feel that a big part of my core was lost in that time as I had to grow up fast, as it's difficult for me to paint now. I feel like there's a disconnect between my eyes and my hand...and I have to retrain everything...my creativity especially.
I have two more days of leave, some outprocessing, and then I'm finished. With the baby on the way, I won't really have an opportunity to work again anytime soon (and choose not to, as well.) Time for me to paint again.
